2021: 7 - 7 February, hours: 18:00-20:00

"Trauma is perhaps the most avoided, ignored, belittled, denied, misunderstood, and untreated cause of human suffering."
- Peter Levine, Phd Medical Biophysics, Phd Psychology, Author of 'Waking the Tiger'

When we speak of trauma healing, it means that we stand for the idea that wounds can heal. In this course we will try to create an awareness of the resources that are available to us and will try to provide you with tools which will help us cope with past trauma, as well as show how and why this can be possible through the kink. We will discuss that kink, and BDSM in general, can provide the space for inner transformation, regarding past experiences and the impact they had on our psychological world.

The course consists of a theoretical part that discusses the topics in depth and some practical suggestions for you to try at your convenience.

We will discuss:
-Kink in the mental health community: views, misconceptions and evolution
-what is trauma? How it can affect us?
-What is trauma management? What is a restorative process?
-Phases of Trauma Recovery
-Kink as tool for healing and transformation
-Sexuality as an evolutionary experience

This is an educational workshop designed for everyone!
-people who are either very experienced or just curious about the world of kink and BDSM
-people who are interested in the topic for themselves and their own growing/healing
-people who are interested to acquire a deeper understanding of how kink and BDSM play might affect their partners
-people who just wish to understand better the positive/transformative impact that kink practices and BDSM dynamics can have on some people

Disclaimer:
~We are NOT suggesting that this course is or should be a substitute for proper trauma informed therapy.
This is a glimpse on how kink can lead us to identify parts of ourselves and deal with past trauma.
~Depending on the response to this course, we hope to create a series of courses regarding topics such as negotiating, building a scene, safety (before, during, after a session), creating safe spaces, shame, triggers, anxiety, position of power, embodiment exercises and many more!

Duration is approximately 2 hours.

Cost is 10 euros per registration.

2021: 21 March, hours: 18:00 GMT +3

Dear shibari friends,

We are very happy to present one very special figure in the European shibari scene: Ludvig, famous for his Sekibaku Shibari Dojo, where he teaches shibari since 2018.

He has learned the art of the ropes from the biggest names of the scene (Hajime Kinoko, Barkas, Fred Rx, etc.) but he has been most influenced by Ren Yagami, to whose style he has been completely dedicated the last years.

In this class we will explore the Sekibaku approach, the history and evolution of the ryu (school of ropes), the purpose behind the ties and the position of the bodies. We will discuss how it looks vs how it feels, what is the meaning of the ropes, for the rigger and the model. Finally we will take a moment to appreciate the beauty of the flow, as we will also witness a moment shared between Ludvig and his model Michelle.

This is a discussion/demonstration class and is addressed to all levels of experience. It will be held in English and no translation will be provided.

During the presentation, all microphones will be muted, but you can use the chat to ask questions. The presenters will be happy to answer everything.

Duration is approximately 1 and half hours.
Cost is 10 euros per registration.

Payment can be done via PayPal or Bank Transfer (for Greek residents only, due to bank charges). So please, when you send us a message to book your place and also tell us your preferred payment method.

"Bottom, Know Thyself!" - Who are you, and what do you want? (EbiBex)
(Discussion-based class; all levels welcome.)

Whether you're brand new to the ropes or you spend more time wrapped in jute than not, somewhere along the line you realized you like getting tied up. What else do you need to know? Actually, a lot!

In a community where scenes are often Top-driven, this discussion-based class will look at a variety of different factors that contribute to "knowing yourself" as a rope bottom, and how to use this knowledge to get the most out of your scenes.

We'll address things like what type of rope you enjoy, what style of scene you're after, being aware of what works for YOUR body and your own limitations, the importance of lab time for bottoms, evaluating a potential play partner for compatibility, and active negotiation.

We'll also explore ways to communicate this knowledge to your play partners to get the scene you want! Bring your experiences and your questions, and be prepared to do some ropy soul searching!

Information about the class:
-Duration is approximately 1 and half hours.
-This class is addressed to both single participants or paired participants, regardless of their experience. 😊
-All discussions will be in English and translation will not be provided.
-This is an educational, community class and the registration is free! Please send us a message to book your place! 😃
Any donation will be appreciated and can be done via PayPal or Bank Transfer (for Greek residents only, due to bank charges).

More about the presenter:
EbiBex (she/her) is a queer, masochistic bottom who first discovered rope bondage when she was a wee baby kinkster, but in the last six years has been able to fully immerse herself in the rope and kink scene. She has participated in and taught at various events such as FIRE, Dark Odyssey events, NARIX, Snowbound, and RopeCraft, as well as weekend intensives and workshops across the US and internationally. She considers herself very lucky to have learned from, tied and collaborated with some of the best rope people around, and is constantly striving to grow as a rope bottom, submissive, and model. Bex primarily approaches rope as a type of intimate connection and partnership, as well as a form of artistic expression. She firmly believes rope bottoming should be accessible to everyone, and hopes sharing her experiences and knowledge will help others find their happy (or not-so-happy!) places in rope.

Exposure, Shame, Pleasure - with Jonathan Seattle Shibari & Sappho

Exposure, Shame, Pleasure
A Day of Kinbaku with Seattle Shibari
Jonathan (he/him) X Sappho (she/her)

On Saturday, 10 of July, the AthenShibari team is happy to welcome Seattle Shibari together with his partner Sappho, in Athens!
Come join us for a day of rope workshops that explore exposure, shame, and pleasure in kinbaku, the intimacy that evokes, and the power that rope bottoms can claim in that space.

The presenters will do 3 semi-private classes, each one focusing on different levels of experience, as well as different kinds of approaches. These classes will appeal to people looking to experiment with different ties and emotions, people who want to create different positions and sensations, people who desire to communicate deeper with their partner. We will work on how to do rope for intimate plays, in different ways and how both the top and the bottom can contribute to the scene in their own ways.

Description:
To tie with another is to explore trust and vulnerability. To be exposed physically can also expose our shame and our fantasies.
Across three workshops, Jonathan and Sappho will lead instruction exploring beautiful and restrictive ties of Shibari/Kinbaku, combining these with core psychological ideas and movement principles found in martial arts and dance. Together, we’ll explore:
• Consent & Negotiation
• Shame & Exposure Play in Rope
• Restrictive Ties & Anatomy, including modifications and variations
• Active Bottoming Skills
• Body to Body Movement & Manipulation
• Rope Handling Skills for Tying with Fluidity & Connection
• Listening to your partner and co-creating impactful scenes from both sides of the rope
• Aesthetics and Rope
Expect to spend the majority of class getting plenty of hands on practice in a friendly, non-competitive environment. This workshops are definitely appropriate for all genders, sexual orientations, and body types.

The program will be the following:
~CLASS #1:
15:00 to 17:00
Level: all levels
Description: in this class we will focus on options and ideas for floor ties, as well as the emotions that can come of when someone is tied on the floor.
~CLASS #2:
17:20 to 19:20
Level: intermediate (experience with locking suspension lines required)
Description: in this class we will focus on options and ideas for partial suspensions, as well as the side of the person tied, both physically and emotionally.
~CLASS #3:
19:40 to 21:40
Level: advanced (previous experience with suspension required)
Description: in this class we will focus on options and ideas for suspension ties, as well as what kind of responses these might bring to the tied person.

Please bring (3-4) 8 meter pieces of bondage rope, 5-6mm in diameter.
